I don't know what the heck you're talking about, he should be more than fine with his power setup and engine life. Maybe you haven't been following his engine/truck build like the rest of us have...
I dont think extended high boost situations is good on it, neither is the awesome-sounding bark when suddenly dropping from high boost to 30-40psi, i try not to do that often. I feel that there is more dangerous than the high boost.
Tinscout has a 42 but he does not push it very hard. He has B codes and oil to run them I wanna say hes been running on this setup for alittle more than 2 yrs. ???
i'd like to know how these turbos do at higher boost levels (50-60psi). we havent gotten the tuning worked out yet, but i make about 53psi and the turbo starts to lite at 2000 rpm with the 1.01 housing.
The tighter housing would be what you want to increase boost/backpressure at lower rpm.
I have a 1.19 and the charger is close to yours. I have no spooling issues at all and I am a standard trans.
I would look at a larger housing if anything, or a wastegated housing. With my current amount of fuel I wont ever need the 1.28 wastegated housing that I have siting here. I have not got the backpressure hooked up yet but plan to today. If your backpressure is under control, don't worry about it.....you are built for war.
I would also like to know what the chargers are rated for pressure wise. I thought most were in the 35-45 range but IDK.
@ 60psi and figuring your at see level or close to in southeast Texas that puts your pressure ratio at near 5:1. Your setup would do good with an external wastegate. Are you surging any?
I'm thinking you need a 55 to go along with you 42.
If I wanted 60psi (which I dont want or need yet) I would do it with twins.
I think that much pressure is a tall order for a single, but I may be wrong. I hope someone posts the pressure rating for the charger, there may be nothing to worry about.
Gare...... if the thread topic is whether or not the charger is going to live at an extremely high PR, why on earth would you even be considering a tighter turbine housing?
Dang, I have a brand new wastegated 1.28 housing I dont need now, but it is T6. I am sure you could find a T4 that is gated also. Sounds like if you like the current spooling....stay with the same housing with a gate.
