What does ever one think of this tire. How loud is it. What kind of miles can I expect out of them for 285/75/16. Do they do well in mud and wet grass? Are they worth 1,200 and is that a good price.
Thanks

overpriced garbage tire. I know about 5 other people that have them and hate them. They all said they wear out to fast for the price. One friend of mine said that super swampers last longer. I would go with Dick Cepek FC-II or Mickey Thompson. Dick Cepek was bought out by Mickey Thompson about 4yrs ago. You can't go wrong with Mickey's. I got 70k out of my Cepek FC-II.
They are pretty good for me like 50k out of them but want somthing different next time. choice is yours but if you think you want them go for it they are not a bad choice.
I have @ 57400 miles on mine. I am due for a change though. I thought they wore evenly and as long as I'm not going over 55mph I don't notice that much noise with the windows down. Speeds above 55 and the windows go up a/c comes on. That's just who I am. I am considering a different tire though due to price. I got off the phone yesturday with Discount Tire $460 ea for 35/18's, I about choked. That's about $350 more overall than what Belle Tire quoted me. I've checked Rimzoneonline, they are @ $324 ea but with shipping I'm back up to the local stores prices.
I just put 37's on my dually, ain't loud to me but tire noise differs to everyone. And wear that depends on how you keep up with the rotation and such.
Good tires! Very quiet for the very agressive tread pattern! As far as mud, I've never been stuck....got hung up on the frame a couple times out playing, but did some turning of the wheel, the sides bit and I was up and out of the mudholes.
I will say that tire life isn't stupendous, I might try something different after my second set wears down.
I ran two sets of them, in a 37 and then in a 35. Both times the truck was nearly worthless on the interstate for a few thousand miles until they stopped floating and wiggling all over the place. On the second set I was so pissed about the floaty crap that I put them on the truck..... left the tire store and went 1 mile down the road to an industrial park where I did a few 300+ foot burnouts just to make the tires usable for something other than driving like grandpa at 40mph and never turning.
They don't hook very well, they squirm all over the place under power and they don't tow especially well, although once worn out, they work very nicely, which thankfully doesn't take too long.
Offroad they work very well. And they aren't that loud onroad.
But if you have a street truck that sees occasional offroad duty and you like to actually haul ass often, and not have the ass of your truck float all around, then get something else.
I switched to the ATZ's this past time and they are indescribably better for what I do. Primarily street driving, great handling and GREAT traction. The pattern is still aggressive enough to get through a muddy pasture as well. For a sure enough mud hole, I would expect that the toyo MT's would work better. But then again, my daily driver's not going to be in a sure enough mud hole anyway.
The Toyos are good tires. They'll just squirm all around under your truck, so get ready. If you make decent power, get ready to make a few unexpected lane changes as well. Once they are about half worn out they start working well. The day you take them in to get new tires is the best they perform..... when they are worn slap the fuk out. Then they're great.... except in the rain, lol.
I have got a brand new set of 35 12.50 20's on my truck and I have seen no problems in any driving situation dry or wet and I have a few buddies that are running them and have gotten many miles out of them and they abuse them.
well i am on the second set on my truck. 35-12.5-18 and the first set lasted me 50k. the only complaint i have is that (like stated above) is that when it is raining out I hydro plain like a son of biatch. noise was fine. i rotate my tires every other oil change because it doesnt get drive other then on the weekends or when I am home. As for the Nitto Grapplers those are crap IMO. they lasted like 20k and were load as hell.
I was thinking of going to this tire from my Iroks. A few friends have them and get well over 40k My Iroks have be lucky to make it to 23k. However nobody makes the tire size like my Irok. Not even the new SS M16's
I didn't rotate as much as I should, but the Irok is loud on the highway I am looking for something quieter in the same size. Which I can't find.
