Am looking to buy a Precision Stallion for my 95 powerstroke with E04D. do i need the 9.5 lockup for my truck or not? i dont know much about these trans and any info would be very helpful.
BUY IT!!! mines 13"? You'll get a smirk just because of the TC install It transfers that much more to the ground than the stocker you can instantly feel the difference, best mod I've done.
I think you should call David at Diesel Innovations. He has the best deals on PI Stallions. That's where I got mine. I love it!!!! Only thing I would do different is get a slightly lower stall. But it will be beneficial when I get a larger turbo....
I sell them but I do not recommend them nor does BTS for a stock trans. Better to get a HD tc or a modded 6.0 tc that is made to fit a 7.3.
If I can help PM me.
Just wondering, why don't you reccomend them for a stock trans? I understand the possibility of a stock trans taking out an expensive TC, but other than that?
Because I have been told repeatedly by JW and BTS not to. It also needs front pump mods..not just the mod http://www.converter.com/book_e4od.htm you see posted to work correctly. I'm not a trans expert so I listen to those that are. Please call them yourself.
From what I've seen, usually if you replace a slipping tc you then slip the trans clutches because they are then the weak link.
If I was doing just a tc, I would also do pump mods and a valve body, I think that would be your best bet on an otherwise stock trans.
Dave
