Changing the Rear Axle

I am swaping the rear end to another rear end. My problem is that the rear axle I have recieved has two passenger side brake mounts. Which means if I mounted my driver side brake caliper it would be in front of the rear axle.

I just need to know how to get the brake mount off.

Thanks, John
I'll post up some pics later

Some year models did that. One side in front of the axle, one side behind the axle. No clue why.

They did that so they could use one caliper, with both behind the axle it requires 2 different calipers.

I'm pretty sure the offset calipers were on 99 and 2k trucks and then they switched to both behind the axle.

That was exactly the reason, they use the same caliper. Problem was that the drivers side was prone to getting damaged because it was exposed in front of the axle. They added a pretty heavy duty shield to help eliminate that issue. Then on the later models, they moved it around behind the axle where it SHOULD be.
