I've done it as well. I even been running my dp tuner with it from itp diesel and i love how it shifts now under hard acceleration. Shifts a lot faster and doesn't slip as much.
I would pick one poison or the other. The shift kits are designed to produce a coordinated shift response by changing springs, accumulators and drilling orifices. There can be several levels of VB mods involved. The **** mod seems to just be drilling selected holes to change responses which may or not combine with a particular shift kit mod. Leet someone else be the test dummy to find out whether or not that would screw up the VB.
