just curious what people have been experiencing with the edge. i have had some discomforts if u will with mine and curious what other people have experienced with shifting and egt's. and if any changes i could make to solve some of these issues?
would like to and might. it'll just be a while. i kinda went with edge cuz they right here so if i had probs i could just run over their but now idk. and i didnt gain the kinda numbers i expected so i dont know that goin with another dpf delete option is really worth it right now...
I believe he is talking mileage numbers there. From dyno charts posted with this tuner, the race tune is making 450-460 horsepower. It's pretty strong for an Edge.
If you live so close to Edge, take your truck up there and ask them what the F is wrong with the tranny shifting. Let them know you are not a happy customer
I just put it on my truck, still alot of testing and trying out to do with it, but no real tranny issues yet. But my EGT's were through the roof. anyone else's? Truck does scoot along pretty good though!:smirk:
yes my egts are insane just the truck in stage two i hit 1430. havent pulled with that, anything over half throttle pullin a huge trailer in stage 1 puts you in the 14's. what stage you runnin??? my trans issues were in stage 3 ive been gonna update it and try again just been kinda busy.
I just put it on so like a true gear head I just cranked it up and put it all the way on level 4! Like you said the egts hit real quick Im interested in pulling with it on like level 2. With it on level 4 once I lay into it the egts hit mid 14's before i even hit 5th gear. Then I puss out and back off. I use my truck for work, don't know how I feel about that high of egts constantly.
the trans is fine in lev 4??? i dont know that i would be that concered with them egts if u have to get on it for it to get up to 14's thats probably not a big deal. just be reasonable with it and you should be fine. i think you we were hitting the mid 14's stock during regen so i wouldnt be to concerned... theyre a rollin coal with the edge ain't they?
If you look back at the 6.0 threads on how the the shifting from edge was bad on the trannys then you will probably see the same thing with their tuning now. I dont think edge was the front runner with power and trans shifting for any platform but made a decent switch on the fly tuner. If I bought an 08' today the only tuning I would buy was from Spartan. No trans issues, all the power levels you could want,( gota get the 310 tune) and a bad ass tuner to boot. Its your truck but you want it too last for a while so get the best you can for longevity.
Yeah like I said I just put it on so lots more testing to put it through. I updated my from edge before I even put it on the truck. I wonder if there new tunes fixed the tranny problem? Once I drive it more I will let you know how she acts in all conditions.
:whs:
ive noticed it takes a few driving miles for these trucks to learn and as far as egt's...wow 1300 to 1450!!! i dont have the edge and cant compare but thats a bit high!
ill update and drive mellow for a day wen i get time. as far as egt's 13-14 is babyin it i would guess you could hit 1600 in stage one pullin from as fast is its climbin in mid 14's
like cobbs and bft said when you change from one level to the next you need to let the tcm adjust to the differant hp/tq that the engine is making. the tcm uses several sensor readings from the engine to adjust the way it shifts.
ive hit about 1750 with my spartan 275 tune so i wouldnt really worry too much about 1400. If its possible i would go with spartan if i was you its kinda expensive but well worth it my mileage is pretty sweet as well.
thats what everyone tells me is at abut 1700 you need to do somethin about it. its just hard for me to comprehend that kind of heat comin from a 6.0 lol. what kinda mileage do you see??? i think ive seen your truck runnin around also.
completly different truck but I'm not impressed with the Edge I had the 5 stage on my truck when I bought it and it would short out all the time. Just be driving down the road and the lcd screen would go black and the whole truck would shut off. Sometimes I could get it to fire right back up both a few times I had to cost off the road let it set for a few and then it would start. I know of atleast two other local guys that have had the same problem. I will give edge one thing there customer service is decent and there do take good care of warranty on there stuff. I wasnt the original own and had no idea how long it was on the truck and they told me to send it in, they fixed the short didnt charge me anything. I ran it for two weeks with no issues and it went on craigslist haha
i loved my edge juice with attitude in my 6.0. i just ran in stage 3 and pulled in 2 and never saw egt's above 1290 (where it would defuel). before i had my edge i was drivin down a curvy road and the truck just shut off so i got it onto the side of the road despite not havin power steering. then it cranked right up. then about 4 months later i had the edge on and same thing happend it killed when i got to the side of the road it cranked right up. never had any other problems with that truck tho it was as dependeble as my 7.3 was. guess i got lucky and i loved that edge to thats why i went back. plus there building is about 1 mi from my house lol.
today i noticed when i stop and idle in gear the truck drops some rpms and shakes the cab. then pickes up rpm and then go back to idle. this normal it seems to be getting worse but could be my emagination. also it dont seem do it in park.
Ive been running my edge for a while now and haven't had any trouble with it at all been running really solid! Ive just been driving around on level 2 for work and towing and when I want to get after it level 4. My egts have even seemed to get under control now not getting as high as I once was.
yeah. learning how to drive helped with my egt's i no how to throttle when towin to get it to kick down but not way hard so egt's are thrue the roof. i hope the trans is gonna be alright if not i'll be talkin to edge.
egt's in the 6.4 are out of control. I talked with the BD reps about exhaust brakes, and they claimed to be getting over 1400 degrees at the tailpipe for exhaust temps. Kept melting seals in exhaust brakes.
I think that on the 7.3 and 6.0 1350 and up was bad, but in regen my 6.4 gets up to 1500 degrees before the truck defuels a little. no biggy.
I drive in stage 3 all the time, with 2 quads and i have no trouble's with the tranny. It run's great for me. Lots for power and pretty good mileage, the egt's only get high when i'm hard on the throttle for awhile. I've seen 1520, only pulling a steep high with my foot into it all the way!!!
Oh yeah, hey fordpowerf450, i seen a little black smoke come out of the exhaust. Not much but it was some!!!!
right on... so far with 50 or so miles on the tune it still shifts like chit. when it shifts its like the trans completely unlocks then the motor revs up then it locks the trans again. i gonna keep it in for a couple days then we'll see. just lockin it in a gear and gettin on it a little is really dumpin the smoke!
i dont know i think my edge is a little goofy cuz everyone i talk to says it shifts good with edge and barely smokes. i'll give it a couple days then go talk to edge since were practically neighbors. LOL what build is your truck wonder if that could be it?
