My friend's 1997 had a dana 80. Found this out the hard way when a bearing failed. Autozone and Napa kept giving him sterling parts that didn't work. He bought the truck new, never had any other rear axle work done. I just spoke with JJ.. and his 1995 f350 DRW may have a 10.25, he will check.
I just spoke with the guy who does all my suspension work..
"Sometime around 2005 or 2007, Ford decided to go with the dana S110 in the F450 and F550. Before this, the f350/450 shared the same rear end, but the f450 cab/chassis could have the S135 as the f550. The newer S110 axle may be smaller, but has the same capacity as the S135. Even I can't keep up, I always climb underneath and double check these days."
Only thing I know about widths is the 450s are narrower in the frames .Found that out the hard way tryen to put a reg. pick-up tank (aftermarket more capacity ) in a 450 ,It don't fit real well .
Basically, ALOT, the OBS only came in a 2wd dually, and all 4x4s were srw, I've played hell trying to swap a dually rear into a 4x4. If you don't mind cutting all the brackets off and rewelding them it's not bad but measure EVERYTHING, twice. The one's I've done have been the same axel, but spring and hubs are vrey different. The dually hubs are huge and heavy. Also seem to all be integrated hub/brake drum. The wheel face is about 4 inches wider on the dual.
Yeah, I used to get weirded out about having those spacers/adapters in there, but 100k and no real problems. I got my last set from Perfromance Wheel in CO, cost about $250. The only trouble I have is when I do brakes, it's a real pain to pry the spacers off w/out nicking the aluminum.
I know F350 cab-n-chassis rear axles are narrower. I took a dually pick up bed and put it on a C-n-c and it looked like a truck w flairs w no fat tires. Looked kinda weird. O and the c-n-c frame is 4" narrower than a pickup
ok so i have an axle out of a 95 f350 single wheel will it fit and work on a dually of the same year
