I know this is crazy, but I was curious if the instrument clusters between the 99-01 and the 02-03 are interchangeable. I'm looking at refurbishing an 00 model truck and prefer the digital odometer over the one in the 00.
I've also considered making my own instrument cluster, but that is probably over my head?
opcorn: I dont think you can do it without a wiring harness or butchering the fuk out of yours, i could could be wrong. But im interested in doing the same if its possible within reason.
I was thinking that looking at the wiring harnesses might be a good place to start. I found the wiring diagram in the Library. Does anyone know what model it is for
Why bother even hooking it up... It's a worthless temp gauge. Just put a quality tranny temp gauge on the a-pillar and leave out the one for the '02 cluster.
I just did this... but I got the whole truck wiring harness to go with it so I don't know what it would take to just swap it. If you get one for a 6 speed truck it has a volt meter in place of the pos trans temp
When you say wiring harness...Are you talking just underneath the hood, or in the dash as well? How hard/expensive to do this?
The one with the volt meter will work in a truck with an automatic?
