Doing the e-brake is like doing drums with a dinner plate in the way. I made one "special" tool to install the springs. It is a small diameter (3/16 or 1/4" I think) steel rod with a slight bend and a notch in the end. A pair of LONG needle nose pliers will also be handy.
If you are only adjusting, it is just like adjusting any drum brake.
my truck is a 2001 so it has disk brakes and ill be changing the pads and rotors. just want to know if there is any special tool that disconnects the ebrake cable to the caliper?
There is no e brake cable to the caliper...its all inside the rotor. There is a mini drum brake inside the rotor.
2 bolts for the caliper
2 bolts for the bracket
48 oz hammer for the rotor
Reverse, clean, and lube.
Done.
