i have one on mine from hellman as well, works great make sure you seal it as well as the gasket...
it will improve your flow tremendously as the line would be 1/2" on it instead of the small stocker. you get a high volume of fuel leading to your pump instead of using a larger diameter draw straw. pretty much lets you use as big of a pump and move more fuel than you will ever need.
With running your sumps do you notice your pre filter getting clogged faster? And not sure if this applies but does a sump cause any extra issues in cold weather as gelling issues?
Normal filter changes.
No gelling what so ever in -20 hwy driving.
The DI regulated return keeps the fuel moving and at a warm temp in the winter months.
Been running my DI sump for about 6 years. Clean install and no boogers oozing from around the seal area. Just install the gasket and silicone the cap screws so the fuel doesn't seep through the threads.
Return line is 3/8". My previous pick up tube is now my return tube because its bigger. I put a piece of rubber hose over the open tube, clamped it, then threaded a bolt in the end of the rubber hose.
i would think that you couldnt run the tank very low with the bulkhead fitting approach. with the sump, mounting it as far back as possible and running the fitting on the back of it is how you are supposed to do it on drag cars. ever seen a drag car with the fittings coming out of the front or side of the tank?
if you are running it low enough to need to know about it functioning that empty, you should be replacing your filters alot due to all the sediment from everytime you fill up. you will be fine man. ive ran my truck under a quarter plenty of times and it was still running great.
Where's the best place to get a bulkhead fitting and are there many/any drawbacks to this? Seems like more people would do it if it didnt have any drawbacks. It seems like it would be more common.
Dang its looking like Ill be changing my current setup, Ive been tossing around the idea of a sump for awhile now.
TSD hurry up and get them available!
