i finally hit it with spray. the tranny didnt learn as quickly as i would have liked..every pass got faster, but the last shift was consistently not friendly. i did run a 7.80 @ 88 in the 1/8th ... so that tells me its got more. i hit it with 2 light shots and there was plenty of smoke left, so its got a bit more, i just wanted the tranny to be fully learned before i whacked it to hard. also had fun playing with the new traction bars..i cut (2) 1.68's ..so they are really working well.
i went .40 first stage, and .60 2nd stage... im pretty sure the .4 was damn near worthless, i just wanted to get the truck out of the hole friendly, i think thats where a lot of the tranny damage is gonna happen, blasting it out of the hole, so i was hitting the 2nd stage after the 1-2 shift .... it'll get more next time, i know its got plenty left. tranny still feels perfect.
i think .40 and .93 ...that equals about 110 or little less.... as much as i would love to beat aaron's time..i would prefer to keep my tranny living. so if it means consistent 12.2's thats fine with me. looking at aaron's slips, he was hitting his a good bit harder... a full mph in the 1/8th and 1/4 ... also the weather was hot, and my bottle was nearly hot enough..that could played a big role as well.
Yup bottle warmer is your best friend, sounds lik a sweet set up for next time, im debating what to do now, big single later down the track or getting another bottle for 2 stages, sounds like you got yours pretty dialed.
Also aaron is only running a single set up so thats why it hit so much harder down low, i think you can bet his time and save your trans with a good set up. your 60 foots are tits i think you can do it.
yeah i have a better safe than sorry theory, just trying to use some discretion with it. my bottle pressure was in the 750-800 range all night ...around 1000psi it would probaly add another 30-40 hp ... so i may run the same jets again with more pressure, see what that does. i have a very high end, complex bottle heater, but i really dont want all that wiring and crap on my truck, so im getting the zex plug in deal that just comes off whenever.
i know scotty..jason at dp mag was rubbing that in last night..i almost upped the jet just to go 12.16 ...lol ...my red truck never had a 60ft better than 1.79 ...
i wasnt even leaving hard dan!! i was just geting used to the bars and spray ...everybody at the line agrees its got a lot left in it out of the hole. them bars work very well.
