I am about to install some aftermarket guages, which will include a pyrometer, a voltmeter, and two diff oil temp guages.
My question to the nation is do I also need an ammeter, or will the voltmeter be okay to monitor my charging system?
Thanks for looking, and any help is appreciated.

I Spend lots of time driving through, or over, some pretty hairy terrain, not to mention the 8 months of winter here. I just want to be sure all my components are in good working order, before I'm the one calling a friend for a tow from the mud. It's just a precautionary measure.

And thanks for the tips, everyone.

Where are you going to hook it up at?

Voltmeter. Hook directly to the alternator or something else?

Not sure where to do mine either, I'll check back with the guy that works and fixes our alternators and starters.
