There all good. They all filter to 1 micron. I went with oilguard because of price and the quality of the kit. I installed it with some miles on my oil change to start so it wasnt clear oil like some are reporting with the fs2500. I am sure if I start without any old oil at all, which would require a few oil drain and fills to get it clean, it would maintain it somewhat.
My last oil sample was high on viscosity even @ 8500 but I changed it anyways because it was recommended because it showed a trace amount of fuel. most likely from excess idle times. It makes a big difference on oil life and cleanliness. I pulled a sample just to see if you could see a difference and the oil was much cleaner even to the touch. It didnt have that gritty or dirty fell to it.
The fs2500 is like 600.00
The oilguard kit is 475 and has nice billet oil filter and filler caps for easy hook up of the lines. overall nice kit.
You can get those cap for the other ones too but they dont come with them. you have to pay extra.
Has anybody noticed if they lose any oil pressure when adding one of these bypass kits? I've often wondered if your bleeding any of your oil pressure off when you add this extra passage for the oil to travel, you know kinda like a small leak. I doon't like the idea of losing oil pressure! Can anybody fill in the blank here?
I am using the Oilguard system. I ran a quick test by connecting and disconnecting the bypass system to see if it drops the oil pressure any. I didn't see any noticeable drop in oil pressure with the system connected. At least that is my experience.
I have been running one now in conjuction with a LF3974 full flow for close to 5k miles and sent a sample in at the end of last week. Delo 5W40 synthetic still gets dark but I am happy as long as the analysis comes back good. Trying to get to 10k+ intervals.
Just bought a 3 pack of filters for $61.20 plus shipping. Sale on right now at oilguard.

Thanks for the reply to my question. I got another question for you..... I see your running Delo 5w-40 synthetic, how do you like it? Do you have any UOA reports yet or is this going to be your first one? I've been curious about the delo synthetic. Elighten us o user of Delo Synthetic.
I went with Amsoil because they use Donaldson filters.
I've also seen hybrid spin-on filters by Donaldson, Fleetguard and Baldwin that look interesting. Basically, they are supposed to do everything a standard oil filter does, plus a bypass filter. Since they go where the standard oil filter is, there's no installation or hose leaks.
Which one is better? I wish I could see scientific testing. But, I'm sure either one is better than none of them. And worse case scenario, you're changing your oil sooner.
Too hard to post the file from overseas so just typed it out. This is running the F6 in the 60T position towing my 10k 5th wheel through CO, UT and WY for about 4000 of the 5000 miles.
Your wear numbers look very good, TBN still nice & strong and silicon is low so you air filtration system is doing a good job. But, your oil had dropped down to a 30 weight at the 5K mark - so I would follow it very closely before pushing this run to 10K.
I have the FS-2500 on the F-250 and at 17000 miles, the oil is just beginning to show darkening color. I have the Amsoil byass filter on the Jetta TDI and at 10000 miles it looks like thick black goo.
I will be doing oil changes and samples shortly and will report the results back. Each engine has the same oil, Mobil 1 Truck and SUV.
If Filtration Solutions ever makes a filter for the Jetta, I will be first on the list.
Yes I know the FS-2500 is expensive, but the damn thing works.

P.S., I have no connection with Filtration Solutions.
I run the oilguard bypass system also. Like SuperdutyDon posted, the bypass filter has a nice solid cover to protect it from any debris. Plus it easy to take oil samples from. Nice pics Don.
I did run the old Amsoil BMK-16 dual bypass kit, but like some others I ran into problems with increased iron & copper wear on my UOA reports. But Amsoil has changed that design since then.
Here is my most recent UOA report. About 4,000 miles of towing our 5th wheel on the last 2 samples.
Do you change the filter element in the bypass system every oil change? And do you still run a filter in the stock location with the bypass system? Might sound like a dumb question but this is the first I have heard of the bypass system.
I change my bypass filter with every oil change. I am running extended oil drain intervals and change the oil, filter & bypass filter according to the results my oil analysis reports. My last 2 reports had me change at 9,000 and 11,000 miles on the oil. It takes a few oil changes to get to that point but a quality oil and bypass filter can help you go longer between oil changes. But if you are going to run extended drain intervals you need to do an oil analysis along with it or else you will just be shooting in the dark.
I borrowed this pic from Pete since I can't find one of mine right now. But you can see the two black hoses for the bypass filter unit near the fulll flow filter, so you still use the full flow filter. The benefit is the bypass filter takes a small amount of the oil and cleans it down to the 1-2 micron level, the full flow filters are normally in the 20 micron range.
Here is a pic of where I have the oilguard bypass filter mounted along the frame under the drivers side.
Installation was easy and Oilguard supplied everything needed in their kit (hoses, mounting bracket, fittings, etc.)
I have an oilguard unit. My oil analysis has come back fine with 9k on it, but is it ok for the injectors? Some believe extended oil drains are ok for the motor, but still are not good for the injectors. Does anyone know if there is truth to that?
