I ran 14.7's tonight at Larue. This is the first time that I have run my truck at the track. It ran a 14.74 @ 88 mph the first trip down the track. The second run was a 14.88 @ 88 mph. The third run I went 14.77 @ 86 mph. I didn't think I did to bad for my first run on the track, with a set of 35's with 3.73 gears, and spinning half way doen the track. I will post up some videos as soon as I can figure out how to get them from my phone to my computer. I think that if it were a better prepped track then I should be running close to a 14.5, but time will tell. :tree:
The track wasn't prepped good, I think I saw them spray it the whole time I was there for the JR Dragsters. I launched in 4wd. I have 230cc injectors, Dp F5 chip, 5 in exhaust, fully built tranny, AFE Stage 1, Adrenaline HPOP, BDP modded H2, RR Sytem, sitting on a 2.5 leveling kit with 35" Pro Comp XATs with 3.73 gears.
Here ya go Danny. I have been told by a few guys in the know that they think it is a tuning related issue. If you want I can email them to you and you can listen since you know what a good tuned 7.3 running down the track should sound like. I cant get them recognized on my computer. Otherwise I would have posted them.
First Run: Reaction time was bad it was 1.10, 60 ft is 1.98, 1/8 was 9.29 @ 73 mph, and 1/4 was 14.74@ 88 mph. Turbo spooled @ 10 psi w/ 2 people in the truck.
Second Run: Reaction Time was .881, 60 ft was 2.05, 1/8 was9.42 @ 73, 1/4 was 14.88 @ 88 mph. Turbo spooled @ 15 psi w/ 2 people in the truck.
Third Run: Reaction Time was.93, 60 ft was 2.02, it didn't give me any 1/8 times, and my 1/4 times were 14.77 @ 86 mph. Turbo spooled around 20 psi with one person in the truck.
Unless you ran the truck with a weight of 12,000lbs, you sure you're putting down all the power? Or ran in the right tune? Does anything seem not right?
Seems kinda dumb to ask that, but your MPH is slow for your mods, just my opinion, and seems a little odd to be spinning tires down the track in 4x4 don't you think?
Prepped track or not, you should at least be 94/95MPH. Dont spend forever at the light spooling and making noise. Stage as fast as you can efficiently. Find the RPMs you're setup likes to leave at with good results and launch off that, boost #s seem kinda pointless to go by.
Your MPH is down. First place i would look is the fuel system/boost/exhaust leaks. whats your boost at WOT? Still runnning the stock pump with stock lines to the bowl?
FWIW, The times in my sig are with 235cc hybrids, big modded H2, stock oil and a fuel system. Truck also had a 60 ft of 2.2 and a blown trans...
This is the first time I have ever ran down the track with my truck so I haven't gotten everything figured out with it. I did love it though. I went into pretty much clueless except to build it up to at least 10 psi for a starting point and to launch in 4wd. I mean I didn't think it was to bad of times for being pretty much clueless to it.
Although I'm still a newby, I'd have to agree on the trap speed. Based on the mass moving from A-Z in 14.77 you should have been in the 90's solid to high. Your 60 seems ok but you said you spun and still ran high 14's at passing speed. Something is wrong or the info is off, not calling you out, just suggesting an error in the timer or radar. Unless of course it fell on it's face @ 1000ft?
Whether or not you can actually drive, the mph should just about always be there if the power is. I've seen otherwise stock 7.3s with just a DP tuner run 92 mph before. Keep working on it and you should figure it out eventually.
I made the first pass in your truck E and you couldnt beat me?? just giving you sh!t ! but for his very first passes down the track I would have to say he did really well! he may have a little fuel leak. my honest opinion tho,I think its in the tuning, it just dont seem to pull mid-range like I think it should. but then again im used to my 6.0 mid-range. But Im just a kid that dont know anything. lol
Me too... I am just trying to get help on it since im a newbie in the racing world. I have hooked to a sled and that is a little easier to get into even though I still didn't catch a groove there either.
What makes you think it was spinning? Could you feel it spinning or did it just sound like it was spinning? Even on a poorly prepped track it would be pretty unlikely that you'd spin in 4wd, especially half-way down the track.
Well it felt like it was to me. Joefarmer on CompD looked at the videos and said that it may have slipped a little once I got off of the track bite from about the 330' to the 1/8. I am still new to racing and have not totally gotten a feel of things yet. It sounds now that I was just feeling the truck torquing and it wasn't spinning. It just has never really felt that way before.
Trans seems to very tight and I haven't had any TC problems yet. All temps. were running fine and everything ran fine on the way back from the track. EGT's stayed below 1000, and boost hit about 35-40 psi.
With 230cc hybrid injectors you should be capable of high 13's and high 90 mph trap speeds. That's just with turbo and injectors. Stock oil and fuel pump in good working condition.
I will check my ICP and fuel pressure. I know that should be at least high 13's. I kept my expectations low for it since it was my first run at the track and that I am still not used to things. I still thought in the back of my head that my goal was going to be very easy to surpass but I was were I had my expectations set.
Injectors came from my brother Big A on CompD from his old setup. Industrial Injection told us that they built the injectors for Dr. Performance which is were they orginally came from.
The injectors are not hybrids. I will be sending them off to get tested. I sent an old set that were 80 hp inj to II and they "tested" them and put bigger nozzles in them. I would have sent them off somewhere else if I had known what I have heard about how things are there. But they told me that with JUST the nozzle changed nothing done to the internals of the injectors that they are 230 cc.
That is why I am going to send them off and get them tested out. After what I have been hearing from a few people is that they shouldn't be smoking like they are and it is possible that something might have gotten screwed up when they machined the nozzles. They are said to be .007 edm nozzles. I do not know what the percentage of them is but I was told that they are proobably 30% nozzles.
He ran the 80hp injectors in his truck with the H2 turbo and when he pulled them out he set his truck up with Dockboy's old injectors, and big oil, I bought them and ran them with a stock charger with the ATS housing wicked wheel and 1.00 exhaust housing. When my original motor had a piston skirt break I sent them off to be tested, and new orings put in them.
hope you get everything worked out if BDP can help in any way just let us know
