I currently have the wrong PCM for my truck (96 California PSD w/manual trans). Does anyone know if I can get it re-programmed? Also if the engine is not the original and I don't have the original VIN number how can I ensure I get the corrrect PCM?
I would talk to the folks at DP Tuner to find out if yours can be reprogrammed for your truck. You would want to know if your engine has the fuel dampener on the back of the fuel pump (whether or not the motor has split-shot injectors). If the black disc-shaped dampener is there the motor should have the split-shots which will require the different programming.
Pull the valve covers and see if you have AA, AB or AD injectors. The AAs are the stock federal single shot and the ABs are the stock split shot California injectors. The ADs are the later Super Duty split shot injectors.
