Re: ebpv removal to remove turbo?

Do you mean the pedestal mounting bolts? These are probably the hardest to remove bolts in the truck.

Use a 1/4" drive 8mm flex socket, an extension (6"-10" as I recall), and ratchet. I use an adaptor to 3/8" drive ratchet for a little more leverage. The driver side bolt is the hardest, come over the top of the turbo and get the socket onto the mounting bolt. The bolts are tight, so use a high quality socket set. To get to the passenger side, drop the downpipe, remove the EB
PV housing with 8mm 12 point socket and extension (3/8" drive works here), and use a box wrench to get to the bolt. It takes a while so be patient.

To reinstall the driver's side bolt, use electrical tape to hold the bolt on the flex socket and get it started in the hole after starting the front mounting bolts. Start the passenger side rear bolt. Then torque in sequence.

If you mean the lower big turbo flange bolts, I cut a cheap combo wrench in half, put the box end on the bolt and tap it with a 4 or 8 ounce hammer. It comes loose. I didn't believe this would work until I saw my buddy remove the bolt in less than a couple of minutes without penetrating oil.

Re: ebpv removal to remove turbo?

i used the swivel on the easy to get ones, ish, but i used 2 4" 10mm craftman wrenchs and interlocked the open end with the boxed end on another wrench and pulled, it crakced the bottom uppipe flange bolts and the rear pedistal bolts loose, great and cheap technique, just have to get in the right position.
