Too much oil?

If the oil on the dipstick is 1/4 inch above the high mark, will it cause the motor not too start?

Unless it's over-full due to something diluting it, such as fuel. If it's fuel diluted, it may not build enough pressure to start.

our trucks hold 15q of oil with a fl1995 filter, i put that exact amount in and its over the full mark by 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch. so some may read different than others....

wierd cuz i got a killer deal on some Synthetic Guardol ECT Motor Oil Liquid Titanium 15W40... 66 bucks =-) anyways it came in a 5 gallon jug and i think i went a lil heavy on the pour lol

If it starts smoking blue then you have too much Seriously, 1/2 is fine, but dont go fill it that high on purpose everytime, if your that worried about it drain 2qts out.
