today the problem started as long cranking. it took maybe 5 seconds longer then normal and next time i went to start the truck it was about 10 seconds longer then normal and so on finally no start. it just cranks no smoke doesn't even try to turn over so i put my scanner on it and got a code for cam sensor and ICP sensor so i thought for sure cam sensor . that didn't fix it so on to the ICP sensor but it seems that it is not a sensor that many parts stores carrie. it almost seems like its losing it prime but the fuel filter is clean and full of fuel. I'm lost so i figure i would ask the pro's:bowfast: please help I miss my OBS and now I have to drive the company truck a 6 leaker that has problems of its own:ford: but i'll save that for another postostwhore2:
so I have some new symptoms or clues last night we tried a shot of either and boom it fired right up so we pulled it in the shop for the night. then this morning it started right up with no long cranking, no either. so I decided to drive it home and see how it would act. it runs OK a little rough but I don't know if that has anything to do with the starting problem but after a 20 min. ride home I shut it off and tried to start it and no start just cranking. with a little shot of either boom, fired up again and ran OK so its only when the engine is warm
Keep the batts charged. Keep an eye on the hpor level, dont forget the crankcase oil level as well. Extended cranking can deplete the oil supply for the hpop. Have you checked fuel psi while cranking? Do you have indicated rpm while cranking? Do you see smoke from the tailpipe while cranking? Did you disconnect the icp and try like suggested?
thank you u all when i finally got to my brothers we put the modis on it the icp reads 50 psi while cranking so does this mean i need a new ipr or just o rings:doh:
Orings are about $4 on ebay and the ipr is about $120 on ebay also. Your choice. Some of the sellers have shipping included, some don't so bid accordingly.
I had the icp sensor go out on me causing a no start due to lack of injection oil pressure.
you guys are right on,:bowfast::bowfast::bowfast: the o-rings on the IPR where nicked. replaced the o rings and cleaned everything up and trucks runs great!!! I also found a bad o-ring on the turbo out let "Y" pipe so that would explain the low boost. ON another note I have a chance to strip out a 97 PSD and I was wondering what is different from my 95 and what I should grab? I was thinking injectors,HPOP,turbo. i garbed the IPR but noticed it is different
