whats the best pan for a 4r100? as in what pan holds the most fluid and price? i have a moroso alum pan but its for a 2wd. so i need a good deep 4x4 pan for my truck. maybe some sponsors can shoot me a price on one????
I'd go to a Ford dealer and buy a new pan and gasket from them. The pan should be about $40 and the gasket about $20. You will also need a 4x4 filter. Ford probably won't be the best place to buy the filter.
Takes a hell of a lot more to cool down as well. Heat soak sets in and overcomes the cooling ability of the cooler... you are up a creek. All these fancy trans pans are nothing but a band-aid.. and a poor one at that. But hey, why don't you get that chrome rear diff cover while you are at it.
Moroso makes one for a lightening its cheaper than the ***-tech and better I beleive its a fabbeb deal. e4od an a 4r100 one in the same as far as tranny pans. Look for the pan in Jegs. I have to agree with Dirk on the too much fluid to make cool once its hot.
With a BTS VB and a 6.0 cooler, I was about 75 above ambient. No extra deep pan. With the BTS trans, I can be 55 above ambient if I want to stick to stock tunes. Even with stock trans, I didn't come close to overheating so what would the deep dish pizza buy me?

Your wallet would be several hundred $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ lighter . Mag tech is nice but not 2 or3 hundred nice.
I bought into this more is better crap yrs. ago on my VW with an add a sump.
isnt a specified temp range a good running tempature? I dont actually know the range but like somewhere between 150-180? Not whatever amount above ambient temp? Not trying to screw with people, i really dont know and am curious...
I still say that anything under 200 is fine. If you haven't driven the truck for awhile, I would get the temp up over 125* for an hour (at least 30 min) to help remove built up moisture.
:whs: Hes the one that told me to get a good pan for my c-4 !
