Just getting the block and heads back from the machine shop tomorrow. They did all the normal stuff (magnafluxing, boring, etc). I recently decided I would like to run a girdle, but smokeyred told me I'd better ask up if its OK to install a girdle after the block has been machined and assembled, as the girdle/studs might change the main bearing bore's ID. I will build it this weekend and would not be able to add a girdle till next week at the soonest.
I was afraid he was right. If I would have thought about this sooner I would have done what you all suggested. But I have to have the engine back in the truck by next weekend, so I will have to skimp on the girdle for now.
Im sure the overhaul with all the goodies is only a ways away
 Don't tell them you talked to me Matt, that may ruin your good name! LOL
You could try like Dave or TE said and check it after putting it on, worst case it doesn't get to stay on. And then you just give Dave a call and your bottom end will be fine.
Ha, sorry... shouldnt have associated you with me.
As for the girdle, I would do just that, but I HAVE to put this bad boy back in the truck next weekend and if it needed extra machine work Id be skrewed... and I dont want a 1400 dollar part laying in my garage for a year or so
Im just gunna have to be careful with this engine and wait to have fun till I get to build it right
Thanks for all the help,
-Matt
