2001 that I finally got to hook on the trailer to! When I bought it the
trailer break controler was in and had been spliced not pluged in.
Now when I pluged into the trailer and cranked some break in, and
when I touch the breaks at low speed ( not getting up to speed
till it fixed) the engine dies.....I was hopeing someone out there
could point me in the right direction on wires. I thought of going
to the wrecking yard and getting a plug from a SD and then pluging
in the contoller from my F150.. Please any Ideas?
When the controller is turned down and very little break on trailer
all is good.
The previous owner cut the plug off and wired the controller up with
butt connectors. That is why I guess I"ll go find a plug so I can
reattach it and have a simple plug in. Yeah Allen, have not gotten
the fix yet, I though it in my old trailer, but the same in new one
means it must be the truck! DUH!
Don't rush him. Some things take some thought and you can't just rush in there you know!!! Check someones SD and compare. Some of the controllers do not match up color to color. Good luck
I think (there I go again) but the inclosed trailer worked fine for the guy
I bought it from, he towed with a SD and Excursian. No complaints. I had
never towed with my SD till I hooked on to my 18ft fb and went out to
drop it off and pick up the inclosed. That is when I found the problem.
I think it is the Reeses controler, I'll trade it out hopefully tomorrow.
I'll get it before I go raceing...
Yea, do not trust the colors to match, with mine the red connected
to white and the one other was different. I am sure you didnt just connect
using the colors (I hope..)
I took the Reese comact out today and down loaded the instructions
from the web site. All was wired correct, so I'm going to try the
one that was in the 99 F150 I had till the uninssured totaled it
running the red light. I did get the plug (factory grey one0 replaced
so all this will be plug and play!
I may have the answer now, not proven but surely worth checking
out. When I bought the truck I had a Bulley Dog Time out shut off
installed. THe same wire from the break pedal that feeds the trailer
breaks is the over ride wire to to the timmer. Monday, I'll hook on
to the trailer and test, IF when that wire is disconnected, the
breaks are fine, I know what is causeing the problem and I'll call
bBulley Dog and see what they say the fix is. I'll post updates.
