I am looking for a new fresh wheel and tire combo, and i want to run a little smaller tire combo in the quest for some lower 1/4 mile times, and quicker street acceleration. I was looking around, and while i am set on the wheel i want, a new kind of tire caught my eye. Just wondering if any of you run this, and what you think of it? This is the wheel i want, and the tire i was considering but not in the size i want
My dad is a Cooper dealer and has sold quite a few sets of that new LTZ. It's pretty new on the market, just a few months. I doubt any of the sets he's sold have more than 5,000 miles on them at this point, but no complaints so far.
That is the tire I will be putting on my F350 here in the next month or so, looks pretty good. I'm going to go with the 305/55R20. 33.2" tall and 10.2" wide, should fit nicely on my stock height truck.
I just checked prices on these, and after seeing it, I believe I'll be going with the 275/60r20 (size I'm running on the truck now) instead of the 305/55r20. The 275/60's are $90 less, per tire. The difference in size is an inch in width, same height.
I've been running Cooper tires for a few years now and no complaints. I've run both the ATR and the STT on my 04 F250 (315/75-16) and the Zeon 2XS on my 03 Mach 1. The ATR's are a good all terrain tire; they ride good, are quite, and have good tread life (I think they come with a 40k or 50k warranty). The STT's are a good tire too, but are louder and have a shorter life. The one's one my Mach 1 have good grip and handle well. I have not tried the tire you are looking at, but if it was a tire I wanted and it was made by Cooper, I'd get it and have no worries. My loacl dealer will even take them back before 5k miles if I don't like them, but I've never given them back.
305/50R20 LTZ's showed up this afternoon, I'll be mounting and balancing them for my crew cab first thing in the morning. I'll post pictures and thoughts soon after.
Man these things look sweet! Suprisingly quiet on the freeway and they took very little weight to balance correctly, I think the most weight I had to put on one wheel was like 2.25 ounces.
I like em. Still need to choose the wheel now, lol
