Well guys I'm curious on how to do this and what to use and if its possible. If I want the rear end locked full time. What should I look into to do this. Thanks.
Yea but I'm spinning off these tires 1 at a time side to side. I've only put a few thousand miles on them and they're almost gone already. Might make it through the winter and spring maybe half way through next summer if I'm lucky. Maybe locked isn't what I want but is there something that is more limited and less slip?
I don't think they have a e-locker for a sterling 10.25. I was looking into a locker and wanted it on my command and didnt want to spend a crap load of money on a arb system as much as I'd like one. So I looked into a e-locker and couldn't find one.
ARB does make an air locker for the 10.25 and 10.50. They use the same locker, part number RD140. Yukon also makes their Zip locker (another air locker) for these axles.
Operation of the Truetrac is smooth, quiet and automatic. The unit will engage without any driver knowledge or action required. It also has no wearable parts and requires no maintenance, meaning less time in the garage and more on the road.
Would't recommend a full locker on my worst enemy for a daily driver. I welded my rear when the spiders went out since I had nothing to lose and figure id try it. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Its a bitch just to get in and out of a gas station. :doh:
so the truetrac is the good option? just curious if its going to be able to drift or is it going to spin the one tire with less traction? its not that i am actually going to go on a drift session with my huge heavy top heavy truck but im just curious on that because right now it just spins the one tire if i throw it into a corner but i get 2 wheel burnouts.
The trutrac is a limited slip but it does tend to lock up better than clutch type limited slips like the stocker. There aren't any clutches to wear out either. They are popular with the 4x4 crowd that also daily drives their off-road rigs.
I have no idea how they will do sliding around a corner. Not sure why you'd want to anyhow, but to each their own.
trutrac is torque biasing, simplest way to describe them if you jack truck off the ground it spins like an open carrier. Allows it to roll very smooth around corners "as long as your not heavy on the throttle" On the road when 1 wheel start's to spin it bias the power to the opposite side giving you a locker effect. Unlike a posi it doesn't rely on clutches, the more power to a clutch the more it slips, More power you put to the helical gears the more it locks! They are the best mannered street locker strong quiet and seamless transition of power. In my opinion best street mannered rear. If it was a competition truck go spool. Trail rig arb or e lock are best Street trutrac! The only down side to the trutrac is both tire need to be on the ground to bias torque it will not lock if one tire is off the ground it will just spin some say you can ride the ebrake to give it enough input to bias the other wheel but that's kind off hit and miss that's why rock crawlers don't use them. But I don't expect to see anyone rock crawling an 8000lb superduty. but like an arb they are incredibly strong. some people use them in sled pulling and the hold up better than a old Detroit. But unlike a arb or e lock you don't have to select when it locks as soon as the tire starts to slip it transfers power to the other side.
summit racing has a $50 rebate until the end of the year on the true trac for anyone whos looking.
