I have a 2006 f-250 I have a diamond eye 5" exhaust, no lift, no big tires, SCT Livewire TS, have not done egr delete yet but have the kit. Getting 14Mpg in city would like to get 17 +
Any ideas or opinions are appreciated.
Thank you
We spend $3400 and drive the truck. We find a solid 2MPG gain for our efforts. That would be 17/20MPG. But what it the return on investment??
Our fill-ups will be 30 gallons @ $3.60.
Previous: 30 gal x 15= 450 miles costing $108.00. Now 30x17=510 miles costing $108.00
15MPG costs $.24 per mile in fuel. 17MPG costs $.211 per mile in fuel.
IF my math is correct you save $.03 per mile in fuel costs. To get your return back in parts money spent you must drive over 100k maintaining the new gain.
Honestly we do this all for fun/work. It's not a cheap hobby.
To the OP you are getting great mileage, using a FICM tuner may help. 17 city would be a blessing I wish you the best of luck.
That is by far the best explanation I've ever seen, OP you drive a truck not a Honda, these trucks aren't made to get great mileage they are made to tow trailers and so on, if your really gettin that good of mileage you are doin VERY well, I would start to worry when u start gettin 5mpg lol but if your gettin the kinda mileage your saying You should be thankful.
Heck im getting 11 i wish it could get better but with 6" of lift and 35s i dont think its gonna happen. Maybe i needto buy a mini maxx and try that out
I have honestly pulled a bit over 26MPG out of mine once. This was hand calculated driving 55-65 MPH on cruise control. It can be done but it was long, boaring, frustrating, and I will never do it again. Around town I do normal driving and get 17.5 all the time. Normal long highway driving I do 23-24 at 70-75 MPH. I think thats great for a truck that is almost 4 tons. My family take my truck for all our shopping runs because it fits the animals, all of us, and anything we purchase, plus it gets the best fuel mileage of all our vehicles. The downside is it is HUGE.
