Exclamation Lower Boost Numbers

Alright guys, Im new to the forum and couldn't find anything searching that helped me out. I have a 06 f250 that I just recently got studded with OEM gaskets, EGR delete, blue spring mod, and STC upgrade. Before I had the work done I was making around 25-26 lbs of boost all the time. Since getting it back Im only making 21 lbs. If I slowly accelerate I can get it up to 25-26 but only if a gradually accelerate. Will my check engine light being on from egr not being there cause it to make lower boost. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

If your CEL light is on it could cause issues. What codes do you have? Also, do you still have your old EGR valve? If so you should plug it back in.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

We need the code. Could be a band clamp or a hose. Those are common issues after that work. Make sure they are out on correctly and are tight enough.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

the only codes that have are from the egr delete. low circuit and no flow. if I plug in the valve I still get the code for no flow.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

Are you sure about the before boost? usually they make under 20 stock.
I'd check your up pipes at the turbo for a exhaust leak, maybe that is causing a boost problem, I've seen it before.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

yea, like I was saying I can still make the 25-26 lbs but only if I slowly accelerate to WOT. if I quickly accelerate to WOT I only run 20-21 lbs.

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

Check for leaks. If ok your going to need sct tuner newer pcm strategy will limit boost if egr does not function correctly. I leave the valve mounted in the intake and plugged in. older pcm strategy was ok with that but newer calibrations have to have egr tuned off with tuner. Or it will cause drivability problems

Re: Lower Boost Numbers

I have no proof, but my theory on EGR deletes is this. There is drive pressure turning the turbo. The drive pressure is usually higher than boost pressure. The EGR lets in this higher pressure, giving higher boost numbers. Delete the EGR your numbers are only reading true "boost pressure".
