A few weeks ago I had lots of work done to my 2006 F-350 FX4 dually with 6.0.
New head gaskets, ARP head studs, Bullet Proof EGR cooler, new OEM oil cooler,
new Rotella 5w40 full synthetic, and all new injectors. Also all new gaskets that
go along with all this work. Also, heads were machined. Just drove it to Florida, about
350 miles, all interstate running 80mph and 2500 rpm with 4.10 gears.
TFT averaged 163, ECT averaged 201 and EOT averaged 208. Also it got
17.1 MPG for the trip down.Do all these readings sound good??? The truck
is running like new, at least to me it is. thanks for any input.
I think my milage may be misleading me a bit. Before the work I had done, my info readout showed 13.4mpg and when I actually filled the tank it calculated out to more like 12.So after 315 miles to Florida, the readout showed 17.1mpg and I was excited. But, when I filled it
up, it came out to be 15.7mpg. So not sure why my readout and my scanguage 2 are showing high ( they both read within 0.1 Mpg of each other) because my tires are stock. I do have the SCT street/economy tune on it, but now I think 15-16 mpg is more realistic. I think if I keep the RPMs at 2k or below, 17mpg may really be possible. But with the 4.10, I turn
about 2500 at 80mph. I guess I got excited too quick, but still happy. Now I wanna ssee what
she gets pulling my small enclosed trailer to Canada.
I don't know if I agree with oil cooler going bad, as the test is on a flat surface at 60-65 mph with no load. I think you are fine. If you run the motor at 2,000 RPM or less you will see your mileage go even higher!
i know my oil cooler is bad, im just too lazy to fix it. I had been running IDP's performance custom tune on it. I put it back to stock for a couple weeks to see if it made a difference in my temps. It did in the oil temps but I was still out of the 15* range.
i watch all my temps through my SCT Livewire TS... love it except the jumpy decimal points sometimes, but just driving to work i average 196 ECT and 199-202 EOT. if im hauling the pullin truck or whatever i usually see about 202 ECT and 208 EOT. i have had them spike to 210&217 once but that was pullin a good hill in southern ohio. 95% of the time they are within 10* and average about 7* difference. thats what i like to see anyways. but i suppose where u live and what your doing are a major factor to that
200ect and 220eot yeah I would say oil cooler my truck had around the same numbers until about thee weeks ago I had a ton of work done my delta never gets above 8 degree difference have not got to tow with my new set up yet though
