I am installing an EGR delete and when I took the intake off I found the egr cooler welded on each end and the up pipe welded. The welds look great so is there any reason to replace the up pipe since this one is already welded up?
Depends on if the previous owner also removed the scoop from the up pipe. By welded up pipe did they just weld a price of metal over the flange that goes to the cooler or is that whole stub cut off and a patch welded over the opening?
If it is a modified (diverter scoop removed) stock up-pipe, I'd inspect it well at the flex section. Prone to cracking at that location. The EGR cooler helps carry some weight so it is even more prone to cracking when disconnected.
Idk what years and im sure someone will chime in with it but some of the OE up pipes are real pieces of crap.
My question is if you have the parts and already have access to the up pipe why not throw the aftermarket pipe in there regardless? Im sure itll flow better as that is what its designed to do.
