Is there a safe tune for an non-studded 6.0?

Ok guys I kinda know the do's and don't's of the 6.0 and I know running tunes is a crap shoot on a stock 6.0 at best but is there a safe tune that can be ran on a non-studded 6.0? And what are the upgrades necessary to run tunes with less worry? Are the studs the only basic necessity, or does my full egr delete, 4 inch turbo back exhaust, and coolant filter, and blue spring mods help the matter?

I would basically like to know if I can run a light tune on my 6.0 without having to concern myself that it's just a matter of time before the tune wreaks havoc.

And please all you knowledge guru's out there go easy on me. I know it's best to have it studded. But it's also hard to be down a vehicle for the time it takes to do it. Oh and also I have oasis report and no mechanical repair history on it so I'm assuming its been a well looked after 6.0

There are tunes out there that are for trucks with head bolts. Quick trucks has the looney, gear head has srl, innovative diesel has a few. Just call around and see what you like.

Like he said there are alot of them that u can run that they say are safe for stock bolts but these trucks blow head gasket with no tuning...some ppl will have issues and some won't, I personally ran tunes that were for studded trucks for a long time without studs and I didn't have a problem but I also didnt drive like an idiot lol as long as u know when and where to drive normally you should be fine

Even stock can blow headgaskets.

they say there are tunes that are "safe" but its basically just a tune that is less likely to blow the gaskets compared to the full out race tunes. I have run Vivian @ quicktricks looney tune for about.. 6 months now and i have no regrets. everything still runs perfectly, to date, no gasket or head issues.

Re: Is there a safe tune for an non-studded 6.0?

I have an 06 that was ran with a tune with just exaust and air intake by the previous owner. Just had all the necessary mods done and my mech said it was just in time. There was some coolant between the heads and the deck. That was at 108,000 miles

A buddy has an 05 that he has been running stock with a hot tune for a few years and his truck is is now starting to have the common issues. Coolant loss, boiling out the degas etc.. He is at about 85,000 miles. IMO if your running a tune that egr and everything attached to it is gonna need replacement sooner or later. Id save the tuner for later and get the motor sorted out and reliable first. Just my .02
