It was asked on another site what order 6.0 mods should be done in.
This was my reply. This is my opinion for both power in the right order and longevity.

In order
4" exhaust
gauges
tuner...SCT of course
intake
fuel system upgrade
fuel pump upgrade
head studs/egr delete
injectors
turbo
transmssion
It's not needed then guys. Installing a tuner does not equal blown head gaskets.
If you do it for peace of mind then fine....by all means.
But f you do it then because someone told you your motor was gonna pop....you were misinformed.
I'm not saying to do it because I'm afraid an engine is gonna pop, but if you're going bigger down the road anyway, why not go ahead and get it outta the way? Get the supporting mods done before the power, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
I will agree that it is NOT necessary for just a tuner, but hell, why not do it and have it out of the way for the future?
I'm still on stock bolts at 130k and have had a tuner on it since I got it. I mainly think it should be higher on the list for piece of mind. They may never pop, but you never know when they will.
No to go off topic but I've had the 150 hp tune from SCT. I got my tuner at 15k and now I got 39k. My gaskets almost blew towing my boat last night. Im starting my ordeal today....
i think if someone intends to go with higher power tunes, and actually use the power regularly, that studs should be way up on the list of priorities...the chances of blowning HG's are definately increased(not guaranteed) with a tuner, and studs can help to avoid a bunch of the associated warped head BS...i know, there's a lot of coulds and maybe's, but that's how 6.0's are with HG's..IMO, try to keep it together from the start..to alot of guys, peace of mind is worth alot..i don't think studding a tuned 6.0l, that isn't puking, is over reacting..
Poor Judgement calls for the repair, and inspection for 6.0L heads (including stud install) is probably also a good cause for the failures too. Seems the 6.0 needs attention to detail more in certain areas, and not enough tolerance there for mistakes or shortcuts given the nature of the beast.
my wifes 06 had a 62/70 turbo, 190cc sticks, erics ext street file for 35 000miles, on stock head bolts, it had a egr cooler delete. stock trans, the lease was over and gave it back to ford, but that truck ran trouble free, i should have never gave it back
Now if i had a fat wallet, this is how i would continue
(just insert head studs/ EGR delete in the proceeding list whenever they may blow, same goes with a built trans)
Traction bars
Fuel system
NOS
more gauges (fuel pressure, oil temp, water temp, HPOP pressure, bottle pressure)
Injectors
Turbo(s)
also, if i ever had the money, I think a set of true balanced headers to even out the exhaust pulses would do wonders for the 6.0
Now realistically, I plan on saving enough money and keeping it in an account and not touch it unless for the sole purpose of headstuds/egr delete.... now when i do get that money saved up, and start having some left over, I will probably get some traction bars, then a fuel system w/ a FP gauge to accompany and finally some giggle gas.... then i will go from there
gauges
5" exhaust or just free up the factory exhaust flow because IMO...why spend that much money to only gain 1/2" since factory is 3.5"...
tuner...SCT of course
intake
fuel system/pump upgrade...think that should be done as one step..
head studs/egr delete
injectors
turbo
transmssion
but to me you got the right idea goin...what did they say was wrong?
lol
STuds!!!!!!!!
Gauges
exhaust
fuel system
fuel pump if your full of the green and can't get 75 out the stocker.
torque converter
CFM intake (optional)
SCTx3
Guages, exuast, intake, programer, fuel system, trans, sticks then turbo but feel free to add studs and/or egr delete anywhere in there if you need them. Imho this would be the safest order depending on cashflow, knowlege and the weight of your right foot.
