My truck has ben pukin for about a year now and it wasn't that bad until lately, I don't know if I should do the egr delete and see if that fixes it or if I should try and scrape up the money and do the studs and egr delete?
pull your egr valve out and look at it, it should be dry and may have some flaky soot build up, if its wet and gummy the egr cooler is probly leaking, and like you said you can delete it.
With a blown HG the cylinder can fill with coolant and hydrolock the motor, and the oil level will be overfull.
Does your coolant smell bad or look contaminated?
Has the truck ever overheated?
This week alone I have had three trucks in the shop that were puking because they were overheating because the fan clutch went out.
No I just had the oil changed everything was good the coolant doesn't look contaminated, I don't drive it that had because I don't want to have to spend the money to fix it unless I have to, and the truck hasn't overheated since I have owned it, and the fan has only came on once. I do smell kind of a oily smell at the exhaust when I have drove it for a while .
puking is losing lots of coolant. No white smok unless it is really cold outside but no much or for long, I have also noticed it doesn't blow back smoke like it use to either.
You can see if it has studs in it already. The lower row of studs sit outside the valve cover. Either you have a bolt head there or a stud and nut. If you find a good tech, they shouldn't care if it has studs already.
Thats good to know about being able to see if I have studs or not, cause I was afraid I would go to have it done and they would get it apart and then tell me it's already been done.
