Finally got my new 4inch exhaust on and my new gauges in and kind of feel like I just wasted some money! The gauges work fine but the thing sounds stock yet. It has the muffler on yet and no cat, if I take the muffler off will that make a difference? Its an 04 6.0 if that matters...
how much does the tuning affect the overall sound? I just put on a 5" magnaflow turbo back with a 4" DP, muffler and cat are still on the truck but the kit came with a cat delete pipe so that will be happening soon.
Mine doesn't sound too much different to me, its a bit louder in the cab than my dads stock truck but wasn't too noticeable to me up until over 2k. I haven't heard it from anywhere in the truck but it sounds louder and bit of the hammering sound but not too much louder in the cab.
When I did my exhaust I had put the muffler on, then I got called out in the smack talk forum and was forced to take the muff off.... best decision of my life
uh oh :lookaround: one thing I was happy about is the kit I got came with a cat "test pipe" so now I just need to find a place to cut me a 5" piece to replace the muffler. Inspection this month and then it can all come off some nice warm day, or heck any ole day I feel like it since I installed the kit on a 28° day

there was a guy at cecil runnin an 04 6oh with 4inch downpipe and a single 5" stack and that turbo whistle was the loudest i've ever heard, it was lifted don't know what was done to it. this was in '07 i think.
some mufflers are reversable... if you put it so the little cups "catch the sound" from the front it will be quiet. If you reverse it so it skips over the lille cups in the muffler it will be lounder and only cancel the resonance in the cab... sounds pretty cool that way I think....
and if you do it that way, you wont have any problems with dealerships or inspectors. I was dissapointed by mine a little too but than got the cat and muffler outta there and it sounds like a jet. just make sure you go through a parking garage or tunnel and floor it to really get the sound once after its straight piped.
Back when I had my 01 I was running with an AFE II and MBRP's XP cool duals and it had their high flow muffler on it and it was loud as He!! Anytime I was up next to my truck had to talk loudly to hear. I'd say to the original poster to either straight pipe it if you're into that or order a MBRP H.F. muffler
STRAIGHT PIPE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!! it breathe so much easier its extremely noticable!!!:ford::bowfast:
