I have a 2003 King Ranch i just bought with 126k on it and it feels like it is really down on power, almost like theres no turbo or something, but the truck doesnt run rough or smoke and it doesnt have any coolant leaks. What do yall think? what could make it be down on power?
I bought a repo a while back with an '03 6.0 that couldn't get out of its own way. It turned out to be the EGR valve was the problem. Do you have a scanner to see if you have any codes?
I would go with this as well as changing out the fuel filters. My EGR valve was 100% if not more sealed up with soot but I would get a good smoke out the tailpipe on the occasions that the truck felt like it had no power. Its not to hard to clear out though so its worth a look anyways.
well i cleaned the EGR valve tonight and that didnt seem to have any affect on my low power problem, havent changed fuel filters yet so i might try that next but i cant imagine that will change it much either and the driver side exhaust manifold has a leak near the rear cylinder but i dont think its enough to really lose that much poetental boost. i mean when i push the pedal down all the way it just is not responsive, i mean my completely stock 99.5 7.3 with a lift and big tires is faster then this thing. is there anything else that could be causing this?
also i can here the turbo spool down after letting off quick so im assuming the vanes are not stuck but if they were could this make this much of a difference?
BTW thanks for all the info and help guys, im kinda new to these 6.0's so im trying to learn as much as i can so i can diagnose them better and figure out whats wrong with them when i buy them
