I know when I usually see Blue smoke, I assume Burning Oil. Well, my fathers '05 blows the blue smoke terribly after he takes off. His routine is start his truck, let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes and then takes off. It then it starts blowing the blue smoke out 'til he gets about 300-400 yards down the road and then clears up. It will even do it, when the truck is warmed up and sometimes will do it just cruising.

His truck is completely stock with 158,000 miles on it. 2005 F350 PSD

He says it does not feel like there is any lack in power. Although be babies the throttle all the time.

Bluish-gray smoke:

Blue or blue/white smoke:

Typically caused by either insufficient fuel or oil consumption.

Normal when engine is cold or idling for extended periods.

Excessive smoke could be caused by air in the fuel, contaminated fuel, loose or plugged injectors, worn or leaking injector o-rings, thermostat stuck open, oil consumption, or plugged crankcase depression regulator valve. Also PCM inputs such as MAP or ICP sensors.
