Pretty much what has been said - strip the heads down of the rocker boxes, glow plugs, injectors, etc. They will be washed and then valve recession checked along with current warp to make sure surfacing will not put them below the safe limit. You need to make sure the machinist has quality equipment that will put on a finish acceptable for MLS gaskets, 10-20 ra is a good range to be in.
