Hey guys,
Thought I would inroduce myself with a question here. Have a 2005 harley f350 with 83--- miles. Dual 4 inch exhaust, bullydog tuner, intake.
When i bought the truck I asked him if the studs were done.. He said that they were done under warranty when the motor failed by ford but APR studs were not put in. Instead "upgraded FORD bolts with thicker head gasket" were put in. Does anyone know any info on these. I didn't know there was such a thing as upgraded ford studs
yes i have seen them a local ford dealer tried to sell them to me its a long story but here we go i was racing a mustang down the four lane and i held it at wot for way to long so it started to puke i pulled in the ford parking lot to let it cool off for a minute and there diesel tech came running out when he seen my coolent on the ground and told me he had the perfect fix for it i just acted like i didnt know anything about a 6.0 he ran back in and came out with the new upgraded bolt and gasket the bolt is a lil bit longer but it looks nothing like the arps i had in my old truck and the gasket is bright orange with 6 cylinder holes lol i ask him when they started making a v12 he just kinda looked around for a minute and then started telling me how i need to take my nitrous kit off b/c everybody knows nitrous wont burn in a diesel

My dealer told me they hadn't had any problems with the upgraded bolts but I told them if they pulled it apart it would go back togeter with studs. I lost my warranty but gained piece of mind. It was a fair trade.
Thanks abrannan finally got an answer I was lookin for. Thought this guy was just bull####tin me or something.
But how much are these "upgraded ford bolts" over the stock setup they had. Know there not as good as APR but will they hold out under mods a bit better than than the stock ones?
Obviously if I blow er up i'm gonna go with APR's but how am I for now
Thanks again
Edit: 80,000 miles current mods are dual 4 inch exhaust, bullydog powerpup 125hp, intake
The upgarde headbolts are no different then fords other bolts, i have installed who knows how many headgaskets with new bolts and if the customers get the engine hot or chip out too much it will blow them again. best thing is to get know for Ford diesel techs and help you out with studs kits, because after install it does void warranty.
Hey Adam. These new gaskets you are talking about, are they the ones that Ford uses now when doing the gaskets or do you have to ask for them special....kind of like I "if you know to ask" kind of deal.
that are the standard..you dont have to ask for them..
