I have put on new rotors and new park brake shoes and all new cables and my park brake does not hold. You have to stand on it till it is almost on the floor to get it to hold on a very slight hill. The shoes are adjusted till they just rub the rotors. They are new ford rotors and parts store shoes. Does enyone have any tips for me please??
Thanks
i have the same problem.... i havent looked into it yet but i bet the cable inside the sleeve is siesed up not aloowing a smooth full pull when your stepping on the pedal. thats what mine feels like right now. im gonna try and spray penerating oil down the cable sheath up near the front and see if i can get enough down in there to work it so it is smooth. if you figure out somthing post back so we can hear what was wrong and what works to fix it.
That's what I thought also. So I replaced both the rear cables and the one up front that goes to the pedal. I think it got worse after the new cables. But will update if I find something.
Got the park brake working great. Backing plates were fine. So I put on new pads and new hardware and the key to making it all work is new little arms that the cable hooks on to that moves the shoes. Those little arms made a world of difference. And not to badly priced from ford.
