6.4 Longevity

I am currently driving my first ever Ford Diesel. It is an 09 KR F350. I have done the egr/dpf deletes with H&S Mini Maxx, and am just about to rollover 100k miles. I keep hearing horror stories of the high pressure fuel pump failing, and that the repair is $10K-$12K. Having paid what I did for the truck, I am wanting to get all the miles I can out of it. What kind of miles are people getting out of the 6.4, and is the fuel pump issue worth worrying about? (I change the fuel filters at least every 10k miles, and run lucas fuel additive.)
Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 6.4 Longevity

stop using the Lucas and use Motorcraft additive.. believe it or not, on an independent test they scored in the top three- tied for second.. the first was 10% bio fuel, which is a no-no with our rigs because of the silly high rail pressure.. the other one, which I don't recall, wasn't available for me..

other than that, change fluids and filters, and that truck will last a long time.

Re: 6.4 Longevity

just rolled 260,000km (156,000m) on my 08.

Still has EGR and DPF and runs like a champ. I've owned it for less than a year, I'll be doing the DPF delete shortly.

i agree, use Stanadyn Additive and if you are concern about your Fuel Pump, change your Fuel filters oftener, i do mine every 4k miles IMHO
