I have Depo Smoked housings that I installed Morimoto Mini H1 projectors in with 55w 4300k's and I love em, excellent pattern and cut off, very white, no blue tinge(I had 6000k before and it was to blue for me). Can see a long ways and yet not blind people, unlike running HID's in a halogen housing.
Well I installed the Retro Solutions 55W, 6000K in both the Head lights and Fog lights and they are super bright and are a huge upgrade from the stockers. But....i think they maybe to bright. on low almost every single car flashes me. Also the high beams really arent that much different then the lows? Is it because its a single bulb head light?
Yes that's why there isn't much difference. You need to readjust them, that's why you are getting flashed. I have the same set up and haven't been flashed once. Since you aren't running projectors the light is more scattered so you need to adjust them down some so they don't point right into people's eye sight. I adjusted mine like straight ahead of the truck and then adjusted them down to where they were the brightest looking when I was knelt down in front of the truck. That seems to working good for me.
Well i have the 05-07 headlights and they seem the scatter the light out more towards the sides and there is no adjustment for that just the up and down.
They project the light instead of it being scattered like in a factory halogen housing so the cut off point for high and low is more defined when the lights is more concentrated.
Higher than 8000k, the light output significantly drops off, causing the light to be almost useless.
One should point out that although light output drops off after 8000k, the fact that the light is in the blue-purple spectrum, it still puts a major strain on the eyes of others.
Instead of obnoxious HIDs why not just good foglights on a switch?
Seriously, guys running around with their ridiculous HIDs make me want to take a baseball bat to the front of their truck.
