Im going to lower my truck back down to stock and i want to leave out the rear block. So my question is do i need an angled shim under the leaf spring to keep the driveline angle correct or will it be fine without? thanks in advance!
I dont take it off roading so the bigger tires are pointless and im sick of the truck riding like hell and getting bad fuel mileage. I will just give it a shot without a shim and see how it goes
My Buick century had a smooth ride and got decent mileage.:evil Returning it to stock should prove a decent improvement in ride quality compared to with the lift. I do not think removing rear blocks all together would have any difference. Not sure what's on the market but you might be able to replace cab mounts.
no removing the block wont. but putting the stock springs in the front will. then i was going to leave the rear block out so it will sit level. I never said removing the block would make it ride better
With that said, would you worry about clearance issues when the suspension is working. Im not saying it will be a problem because i have never lowered an f250 but when a vehicle is lowered, typically the suspension needs to be stiffened up a bit, then again that is on cars with coil springs. Do you tow at all? A two inch drop below stock height with stock suspension might be a little iffy with a load.
give it a whirl then. Like someone else said, a shim can always be added if the vibrations are bad. Too bad your not local, id shoot you a good deal on those useless tires haha. let us know how it goes if you decide to go through with it.
It will for sure prolong the life of your drive line too add the shim. It's gonna ride like crap when towing, get a hitch that will sit level with the added squat and maybe some timbrens.
I've always saw F250s with a drop hitch at stock height, going to look pretty weird when you have to turn a drop hitch upside down.
Hope the tire don't smash the fender on a good bump at speed!
The factory blocks are not tapered. Even lift blocks are not tapered until you get past six inches or so.
Installing rear leafs off of a 08 and up truck can inprove the ride quality on the back of the truck. You do have to move the front spring hanger forewards eight inches though.
