DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
I have a 2003 F250 with the 7.3 powerstroke. I had some stumbling and the CEL light came on. I ordered the OBDscan software and pulled codes and got p1280 p0000 p0000 during the KOEO test. During the KOER test it displays a p1284 P0000. I know they are related to the ICP sensor. I have checked continuity between the sensor connectors and the pcm plug and all three wires showed no break in continuity. I did a voltage check on the sensor connector on the harness from this linkhttp://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/949.../ecsd/icp.php3
and everything checked out is there anyway to check the sensor itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low
P1284 ICP failure. I would say, replace your IPR and should be good to go! You can also disconnect the ICP sensor, which will throw the PCM into default. If the truck runs better replace that sensor as well. Does your ICP sensor have any oil leaking from it? |

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
I have disconnected the ICP sensor and the truck does not run any differently. The connector on the ICP has no oil in it and I cleaned the contacts with electrical cleaner with no change in performance. Also the truck died on me the other day and fired right back up. Is this related to the IPR?

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
Check to make sure that the nut on the IPR is tight. I had mine come loose once and it acted just as you describe.
If it is tight your IPR has problems and you might as well get a new one. You can try to take it apart and clean it but that doesn't always fix them.

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
Thanks, I'll try and clean it and see what happens. Do you know if a bad IPR will cause the truck to stall??

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
well, I removed the IPR and dissassembled it and cleaned it with no change. I wiggled the connector to the IPR and the truck would not die. I was wondering with the DTC 1284 it identifies an ICP circuit failure during the KOER. Wouldn't those to codes narrow it down to the ICP sensor or connector? Also, will the ICP cause the truck to die?

Re: DTC p1280 and 1284 help!!!
No. Bad sensor or connection will trip a code and it will run in default(780psi at idle and 2475psi at WOT, plus or minus a couple points). I would replace the IPR with a new one and maybe the ICP sensor as well. Or, go find a friend with a PSD and barrow his ICP sensor?
