nope. Some people remove the larger bottom leaf out of the rear springs.... I personally think that is too low and dont plan on going that far when I do it.
This is 4400lb springs up front and no rear block. Keep in my the truck is sitting a little awkward in a downhill driveway. I'll try to find a better pic on flat ground.
They do look really good. Im still waiting for my current tires to be spent before I lower mine down. Still torn between the nitto 420s 305/50R20 or an all terrain like the terra grappler in 305/55R20... What did you like better Jeff, and why?
Im kind of leaning towards the A/T only because I dont drag race really. My truck is really only a street vehicle, that I may take down a dirt road now and then if I need to. Once my truck is built up more I may go to the drag strip once in a while for kicks. Probably more dynos than anything.
I like the look of the AT's better personally. They don't ride as good as the street tires do though. Probably because they aren't near as soft. My next tire may be 305/55/20 Cooper Zeon LTZ's. They have a sweet tread pattern and should wear really well being an E-load tire. I haven't decided though. I should get another 15,000-18,000 miles out of these Nitto 420's I'm running right now. Can't beat the price either.
Jeff - I ran the 305/55/20 Zeon's for years on my previous built LBZ & they hooked fairly well, and wore very well! Averaged 30k per set, driven fairly hard - they were twice the tire of Terra G's for me..
I cant find 4800 or 5000 springs anywhere, no part number or anything to go off of! The ones i found are from a gasser but doesnt show what rating they are!
Jeff if you put harley lights in that thing it would look killer! Do you have a black fender badge too, its hard to tell from the picture. I really want to get a white 6.4 and put black accents on it like yours, looks great.
So quick question, for the rear you can just take the bigger block out and reuse the stock u bolts? Or can you take all the blocks out of the rear and still use the stock u bolts? I already have the front springs, just trying to figure out if I need shorter u bolts before I do the job. Thanks.
You should only have one set of blocks in the rear, and no you can't reuse the stock u-bolts. They are too long with the blocks removed. You'll need some that are shorter.
Thinking about doing this on my f350. You think a 4800 spring would be sufficient or should i bump it up to the 5200? I'd do the cooper zeons, i've had them before and they are a sweet tire. Anyone done this on the stock 20's and have pics???
It's not a 6.4, but my 2000 2wd, stock front, shackles and spring clamps in the rear for about 2.5" drop in the back. 285/55R20 on stock 20"s. (now has 05 front end, but haven't gotten daytime pictures)
Just a follow-up on my results with lowering my 4x4 F250.....
A rehash of parts: 4800lb gasser springs in front, removed OEM 2" lift block in back, installed shorter Ubolts.
The front end dropped about 3/4" and the rear about 2". I'm sitting just about level to withing a 1/4 inch.
I left the bump stops alone. The front does only has about an inch of travel before contacting the bump stops. Since I only drive on-road, this hasn't been a problem yet.
No shimming was done to the carrier bearing. I do not notice any odd vibrations.
I have about 3600 miles since the modification. The ride is just as good or perhaps softer with the new springs in front. I loaded the bed with about 1.36 Ton (2720lb) of sand and she drove fine...squatted pretty good, but to be expected.
Next on the to-do list are some PMF Traction Bars.....
What size tires are you on and wheels. Not sure your location, but could you send a measurement or picture of front end. I have a fisher plow mount and still need to plow so that's only downside of dropping her. I have timbren bump stops I would fab up to hold her solid when plow is up. And just go back to stock wheels and tires.
I would say they drop it 1" or so, maybe a little more. I think 4400 lb springs drop a good 2-2.5"
