Can anyone confirm that all the superdutys use the same transfer case whether gas or diesel. I am looking to pull on from a 2000 f250 with a 5.4 and want to make sure it's the same before I do. They look like they are but it would be good to know for sure.
From what I have found, I think all the superdutys up until recent years use the np 271f (floor shift) or np 273f (electronic shift). Definitely for the 6 speed and the automatics. I am not certain about the 5 speed. The only difference for the auto and 6 speed is the input shaft. They have different spline counts but can be swapped. If this is the case with the 5 speed the. There are really only 2 cases and 3 input shafts making for 6 variants.
I already took care of my problem and swapped out input shafts this past weekend to use a floor shift from behind a 5.4 auto on my 7.3 manual truck. Not a real big deal to take apart and swap the shafts. The linkage for the floor shift is a different length on these two trucks. The 6 speed behind the diesel has a longer linkage than the auto behind the 5.4.
