Loss of power and P0238

I have a 2004 F250 (6.0), with an SCT tuner.
I had my truck lose power and shut off on me three times today, but before stalling it had a low idle, now power/throttle response and was pouring black smoke out the exhaust. I turned the key off, and when I fired it back up it poured a ton of black smoke out the exhaust and I put in gear and took off, and it ran fine, till it lost power again. Once I got it home I checked for codes and got the P0238.

Thanks for any help on this.

Re: Loss of power and P0238

last time I got no power and tons of black smoke, turned out to be EGR valve. pull the valve and clean it enough to get it working again, then put it back in but don't plug it in. Mine ran great like this for about 2 years. won't throw a code on an o4 unless you've got an updated flash that detects low flow for EGR valve
