Neutral Safety Switch

Anyone know what wires need to be jumped for it to be bypassed?

I am trying to figure out why the truck will not turn over with the key

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

if you havent tried this yet brad, try starting it in neutral or pull the shifter hard to the left and hold it and try starting it and let me know. my truck does this and it is do to a broken plastic bracket to the frame that my shift linkage runs through.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

not sure if its the same but this worked on my 98 f150. you need to jumper the 2 wires closest to the firewall and the one furthest away of the 6 wires in the connector

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

As far as I can tell, on the 6-pin connector: Pins 1 and 2 are not used. You need to jump pin 3 (White/Purple Trace) to 4 (Teal/Light Blue Trace) and pin 5 (White/Pink Trace) to 6 (Red/Light Blue) to bypass the switch. Cheers!

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

You had everyone cornfused, brad. On the ZF5, it's called the clutch switch, not the neutral safety switch; that only applies to the Eek4OD.

But for future reference, you jumper the two wires closest to the firewall to bypass it.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

I just bought a 97 a few months ago and had a trashed clutch bushing. You essentially had to curb stomp the clutch to start it but it did fine shifting. Like they said, Under your dash theres a 6 pin connector. Clip the bottom 2 off the connector (closest to the firewall on bottom) and jump them together. Works great. You just gotta be smart enough not to try to start your truck while its in gear without the clutch in. (I still push the clutch in most times because its habit) Not a bad idea to push the clutch in for safety sake. Probably a redundant post but hope it helps......
