Shifts on the upper hp tunes with tranny tuning are very rough, need some work I think. Which is why Mike set up the tunes to operate with different tranny tuning options. At least they are in my truck. power seems pretty good.
Mike has done an excellent job balancing horsepower and torque with drivability and fuel mileage. I've had his Green card for about 2,000 miles now and have been paying close attention to every aspect of the way the truck performs. I have seen hand calculated mileage as high as 23mpg and as low as 17mpg. Last weekend I drove from Crestview, Florida to Panama City (Florida Panhandle) and back and averaged 19.8mpg...and that was with a 10 minute regen. I just got back today from the exact same trip with no regen and averaged 22.2mpg. Of course, I drove the posted speed limits (55-60-65) and took care to accelerate gradually and keep mileage in mind, but otherwise drove normally. I did my best to "baby" my driving for three tankfulls and averaged right around 20-21mpg every tank. Incidentally, I'm running completely stock (2011 F250) to include the factory 20" wheels with 275x65x20 Michelin LTX AT2's.
Regens typically occur between 450 and 550 miles depending on how I drive (in town or highway).
I haven't dyno'd my truck, but I can compare the performance of my truck with the three different custom tuning companies I have used. Power with the Green Card by far the best of the three...amazing! Now, I've never owned, driven, or ridden in an 08-10 6.4 tuned Super Duty so I can't compare those oranges to my apple, but I am freakin' amazed with the power Mike has extracted from the 6.7...and guess what?...he's still working on getting more! In fact, Mike's always working on making his product better and is listening and responding to customers in order to improve his tunes. That's worth my business any day!!!
Shifting was indeed harsh when I first installed the Green Card. I tried all available trans combinations, but they were all harsh...even after about 200 miles. Then I had to tow a lawnmover trailer for a friend. I had the truck tuned at level 5 with the level 5 trans tune and put the trans in "Tow" mode just for kicks (It was a big mower-lol). Apparently that did the trick! As soon as the trailer was off and the trans back in normal mode, the shifts were firm but smooth and have not been harsh since. Every now and then I'll catch the trans off guard and let off the throttle at the moment it's upshifting and it will hit a little hard, but I've learned not to do that.
Our tuning on the green card is made to lower the soot output versus stock in all but level 5 at WOT. This is how we get better fuel economy with less frequent regens. Keep in mind though that even with the race level 5 more soot at wot, it won't clog the DPF, just cause the regen to happen sooner.
I could not get it to stop shifting extremely hard. I had to go back to stock then reloaded everything back on Map4 without trans tuning. Any advice? Figured once I get traction bars it would be tolerable.
...try driving the truck around in tow mode for a while, then go back to normal mode. This works every time for my truck...the shifts are crisp and firm, but no longer harsh. I've done this a few times after returning to stock or trying other levels and it's worked every time. I've found that actually towing a little something in tow mode helps the tranny "learn" a little faster...I constantly run in engine level 5 and tranny level 5.
Those are some pretty good numbers, i'll definitely be getting one after i get about 15k on the truck.
Do you Patrick, or anyone else for that matter, happen to have the torque numbers or an estimate to how much torque it made?
I've got a friend that knows Charles and says nothing but good stuff about you guys. Im glad there is a good diesel place not far from me too, im in Jackson
The bigger issue is turbos and rods. Both of which are not that robust.
Only one way to find out I suppose
