Can't see any real benefit unless you are making way more power than stock and you intend to operate at high power levels for extended time periods. Just haven't heard of any engine failures attributed to this. While the poor circulation is probably true I don't see it as being bad enough to address. The newer style front cover and waterpump would most likely do more for coolant flow. Especially with an improved pump. I think BD or someone is making a billet one that can't come loose on the shaft
Yes there is a billet water pump. Bullet proof your diesel makes it. And maybe this isn't something most guys run but for me it's more of a piece of mind thing. Once my build is done I'll have a billet water pump, coolant recerculation kit, coolant filter kit and a bunch of other doodads. If you care look at my tow rig build thread. I figure it like this. It's a known problem and I'm going to do just about everything I can to have a nice running happy 6.0l.
