Ok so wife said I get 1 chance build the tow rig. As of now I have everything in sig plus a sct tuned by KEM, billet water pump and coolant filter.
This is where I need help. I am wanting a good fun quick spooling and as little smoke as possible tow rig. I tow at or under 10k.
I am thinking of going with warren 190/75's or 190/100's
Head studs with new stock gaskets
Ats coolant recirculation lines
New standpipes and dummy plugs
New icp
Stc upgrade kit
I want to get rid of the vgt turbo setup. This where I'm stumped. I have been looking at 62/65 and 62/68 turbo's. But like I said I don't want a lot of lag or smoke. And yes I will be getting the FICM tuned along with new tunes from KEM for the sct. So what turbo would work best. Doesn't have to be either one I looked at. I just want a sweet fun tow rig that spools quick and has decient egt's
yes divided up pipes and 64 or 62/68. i have some brand new head gaskets if your looking. hit up rykan at holderdown performance. he can get you set up quick! he knows his #### when it comes to injector-turbo combos!!!!
I would for surely go with 190/100s over 190/75s (go big or go home IMO and mine run very cool). Also if you're gonna go with a non-VGT, I would say a 64/71/.70 as I have heard GREAT things about that particular size. I heard of one guy running it with STOCK injectors. Oh yea I would do divided up-pipes for sure if I went that route. JMOs.
These guys pretty much covered everything. Maybe throw a coolant filter and upgraded direct drive solenoid. Also I would look into fuel system upgrades as well with 190's. Also more gauges if you only have a fuel pressure gauge. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Well right now cruising down the hwy at 70-75 mph with outside temps in the 85-90F range I see my EGTs with X-street right at 750F sometimes it gets up to 850F on a long enough or steep enough hill. My SPD runs about 20F warmer. EGTs are 1800F at WOT and 100 mph and a haze starts at about 30-35% throttle (according to my CTS).
Holderdown. Yes coolant filter is sitting in my garage waiting on billet water pump. And what gauges would you suggest? I was thinking hpop, egt and ???
Defnitley egt. Hpop is a good one to have and also if it's a tow pig I'd have tranny temp. You could also do boost but if you have the factory gauge that should work fine as well.
As mentioned if you are towing, I would highly recommend EGT and Tranny as well as boost, fuel pressure, oil temp, coolant temp. A CTS would be nice because it displays a lot of data but you need a stand alone HPOP gauge for a tuned truck IIRC. It can be expanded for EGTs and Fuel pressure.
Yes a CTS would be ideal. If you have a fuel pressure gauge get a CTS with a egt add on. With the CTS you can watch up to 8 pids at once. Plus run codes.
Not sure yet..... Been talking with patric at KEM and he gonna nab me a great deal on the cam, injectors, uppipes with divided t4 flange, turbo pedestal, valve springs, and airdog 165. (not to be a dick but he and i been doing a lot together since i bought the truck, Man now i feel lke a dick since your a sponsor too). If you have a recommendation im all ears.
