I'm thinking about putting one on to help with pressure spikes when I let off under heavy loads. I think that will fix my issue with I/c boots. All opinions wanted please!!
BD makes one and so does hks but both are at their price, you can run one mechanically with a large bov but it needs to be a push pull type i believe and you use boost/drive pressure to control it
i just put the Bd BOV on my truck, i had real bad "Turbo Bark" and occasionaly blew intercooler boots.
This was a little pricey, but the set up is well worth it. After installing, there are mutliple setup points on it that allow you to not only stop the turbo bark, but after conversations with BD on the phone, if set right this could potentially also help your turbo spool a little faster (note* a little) this system works off throttle position, so pending how you set it up, the unit activates. it takes some tweaking, but i love it.
I will be installing a 60mm JGS BOV on my twins this week/next week.
No vacuum needed.
Hook the top port to exhaust drive pressure. (need a filter on this line.) this pressure, along with the internal springs, will hold the valve shut.
Hook the bottom port to the boost pressure.
Drive pressure is typically just over, or equal to boost 99% of the time...until you lift your foot, then the drive pressure drops off, but the boost is still there with nowhere to go, except out the compressor inlet, or out the BOV.
