I have been debating on installing a small (maybe an 8") subwoofer in my extended cab just for better sound quality or installing a set of component speakers in the front.
If you have an extended cab and have a subwoofer, post pictures of where you have it installed.
I was actually talking to a buddy a little bit ago about this. We were wondering if anybody has put one under the middle seat in a 40/20/40. IDK anything about stereo stuff, but there seems to be a decent amount of room under the seat.
I suggest if you are gettin subs and speakers go with some JL, JBL, Kicker, Pioneer, Polk Audio, or Alpine. Ported sub box with give you more boom and play harder at higher volume. Sealed box will punch and sound great with a variety of music. If you are powering just the subwoofer i would recommend a class D monoblock amp.
Oh nice! i should of asked first if you knew much about audio lol. Yeah, kicker to me has stayed consistent over the years and they have great sound and quality. I did hear a truck that was completely decked out in JL equipment and it sounded AMAZING, although i know it was a bit pricey lol. Are you buying a box or building one?
Don't have a pic but I've got a solo 10" just chillin on the back seat.. Left the wire from the amp long enough that I can scoot it anywhere to clear space for boxes, guns, etc.
I don't want an excessive amount of bass, just enough to add to the music. I listen to country and old rock, so I don't need or want anything that will beat my ear drums out.
I always build my own boxes. I have yet to find a box that fit where I wanted it to be.
I have been looking at a 8" Kicker CompVR that is designed for open air. That way I could just build a stand inside the center console instead of a complete box.
But with center console boxes, wont it rattle everything u have in the cup holders and stuff? My best experience for county and rock n roll was with a sealed box.
they have low pro competition 6's that are nice too, my buddy is into that stuff and he showed em to me and they were versatile, small, but yet still had some ass.
I agree completely. I could however give up partial space in the lower portion of my center console for an open air sub. I don't keep anything in there that wouldn't fit in the glove box.
That is also why I have considered going to a component setup in the front.
yeah and i'm with you, i listen to the same music and just want more sound quality than just bass, i want it to sound loud and clear like your at the concert or in the studio.
my system is not just bass fyi, i have a speaker amp, it really balances out nicely, but im an effin bass head and have sat in a mustang that hit 161.2 db, its never too much
That 8 should be nice. I've had a Kicker CompVR 10 for a while and it is just rediculous. I had a parts truck where the center console was sitting on top of a color matched carpeted mdf sealed box. The cutout was for a 12 and everything was about factory size. My 10 is in a .8 cu ft sealed box so I imagine a box for that 8 woud be no big deal.
I have a 12" in a Q-Logic box that acts as a center console for the back seat in mine. It goes between the front center console (Captain's chair setup in mine) and then back under the read seat. I lose the center seating in the rear, but still have both sides and it gains 2 cup holders in the back. (Not a big deal, but I use them way more than I thought). Sounds good and does the trick. I'd take pictures, but I am out of town.

That's a good idea. I have to run a baby seat there, but it would help prop up the front of the seat. Post some pics when you can. I'll look into making one.
I don't want too much bass. I have had a 12" Solo Baric L7 and they are very loud.
