So to start off, I've used every search function known to man and come up with nothing definitive.
I have a 2002 F350 CCLB with a 4.5" lift.
My vibration and noise sounds like a mash up of select symptoms from all the different diagnoses.
Under light throttle or braking The noise almost sounds like if you touched a fan with a playing card.
Under heavy throttle or braking it sounds like a piece of sheet metal with a bunch of vibrators on it (LOUD).
However, the noise is elliptical (wha wha wha wha wha) and only from like 5-10mph and 10-5mph and completely goes away above 10mph.
It gets louder the quicker I accel or decel. (Mostly loud as hell when I go from 15-0 quickly.)
Its worse under a load but does it in neutral too.
The frequency is proportionate to the speed.
Does not make noise in reverse.
Does not change in 4lo or hi hubs free or locked.
Sounds as if its coming directly from my transfer case.
No clunking changing gears.
When I'm sitting at a stop light if I let off the brakes slightly to creep forward my truck starts bouncing like 1/2 an inch up and down.
Oh and the noise starts well before the vibrations.
I have a little play in my carrier bearing but nothing sloppy, I haven't dropped my driveshaft yet but I inspected all my ujoints and they all look great. This just started but my lift has been on for a while. My driveline looks straight with about 3/4" shim on the carrier bearing.
I am going to just go ahead and replace my U joints and center carrier bearing but everyone elses issues seem to have additional symptoms. Like vibes at highway speeds or clunking etc.
If you guys have any idea or my symptoms sound exactly like yours did please let me know. maybe I just don't notice the vibes at speed because to me it doesn't vibrate that bad when its making its mating call.
thank you in advance.
